Role Summary/Purpose:
Reporting to the VP, Technology & Operations Control Lead, the AVP, Technology & Operations Cloud Control Governance is responsible for monitoring and testing controls for design and operating effectiveness that support Synchrony’s operations in the public cloud. This role also helps lead continuous improvement of Synchrony’s cloud control monitoring and testing processes through increased use of automation and introduction of capabilities through Synchrony’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) toolset. Successful candidates possess practical knowledge of related industry standards (e.g., CRI, NIST) and a strong background in public cloud-based risk and control testing for design and operating effectiveness. This role features close interaction with a broad population of control activity owners throughout Synchrony, offering the opportunity to enhance Synchrony’s technology control posture in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Essential Responsibilities:

Leading walkthroughs with control activity owners to obtain an understanding of control activity implementation

Ongoing collection of evidence in support of demonstrating control activities

Perform ongoing monitoring and periodic testing of control design and operating effectiveness across Synchrony’s industry standard-based public cloud control framework

Peer review of control testing documentation

Identify, document, and communicate control deficiencies and opportunities for enhancement to control activity owners

Maintain control status, evidence, and testing documentation in GRC systems of record

Assist in design and implementation of GRC features that enable improvements in control testing efficiency

Contribute to the optimization of control monitoring and testing through process flow analysis and enhancement

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 3+ years of related work experience; OR in lieu of Degree, High School diploma/GED and 6+ years of related work experience.

2+ years of control testing for design and operating effectiveness, preferably in audit/oversight functions with experience in financial institutions or banks

Demonstrated interpersonal skills; team-oriented and able to work cross-functionally in a collaborative, inclusive manner.

Working Familiarity with industry standards/regulations such as NIST, CRI

Experience and/or certifications for Cloud Service Providers expertise (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP),

Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tooling (e.g., ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management, SAI360)

Experience with Cloud Security Posture Management and logging platforms (e.g., Wiz, AWS CloudTrail, Splunk, NewRelic)
Desired Characteristics

The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 – 170,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:

You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
