Organizational Overview :

Exception control – Analyzing the existing process and Identifying the defects. Reporting to Surveillance team to take the necessary action. Enhancing the Identification process as per the process changes.

Role Summary/Purpose:

This role is an addition to an exciting, fast-paced, constantly changing and challenging work environment, and will play an important role in supporting the Governance and Surveillance efforts across Synchrony Bank. It will support Synchrony Bank’s Exception and Control Reporting efforts by providing SAS programming, complicated data extraction to build new reports for multiple processes across Collections. The role will need to understand collections practices and policies and translate to multiple data sources and will also assist in audits pertaining to consumer and regulatory requests.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the business requirements provided by Collections Process Owners

  • Develop the reporting framework to solve for business requirement

  • Develop SAS code, visual basic macros, business object or other query tools to build new exception and control reporting.

  • Data extraction, processing & mining based on various business rules and provided requirements

  • Develop & present recommendations on analytical paths based on available data resources.

  • Generate Business Insights and deliver them within timely manner.

  • Document, update and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all Customer applications supported.

  • Work with IT and DW team to request data builds & support necessary analytics and reporting mechanisms.

  • Support audits via documentation of code and analytic outcomes and as extraction of data.

  • Liaise with India/US teams collaboratively to deliver on projects through appropriate management of time and resources.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

  • Providing guidance and support to team members in resolving complex exceptions and issues, including escalation as necessary.

  • Facilitating team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team.

  • Serving as a point of contact for stakeholders across the organization, including senior management, to address inquiries, provide updates, and communicate findings related to exception control activities.

  • Leading by example and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in exception control reporting practices within the team.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Masters or Bachelors degree with 3 years of experience in Mathematics/Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science/Engineering or other quantitative majors, or equivalent experience or in lieu of a degree 5 years of analytics experience.

  • 3+ years experience in analytics domain

  • 2+ years of experience in SAS.

  • Data analysis experience with large datasets and unstructured data sources

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while delivering on demanding deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated PC proficiency (Microsoft Suite, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Able to work hours that compliment US, not necessarily match but have some degree of overlap

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong SAS programming skills.

  • Data Warehouse programming and/or analytics utilizing tools like Vision Plus, FDR, Rules, DM

  • Deep experience with various Collections Regulatory Reporting / Remediation Projects.

  • Exposure to regulatory requests and audits.

  • Exposure to Python programming.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity and deliver creative results in a data environment.

  • Ability to adapt to multiple tools for data extraction.

  • Strong problem solving skills & attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, ability to clearly present analytical results and make recommendations based on findings and/or data limitations.

  • For Internal Candidates – Experience in working on various data warehouses like CDCI, RDW, COLLP, Vision Plus, CLPB2.

Eligibility Criteria: 

Masters or Bachelors degree with 3 years of experience in Mathematics/Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science/Engineering or other quantitative majors, or equivalent experience or in lieu of a degree 5 years of analytics experience.

Work Timings:

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
