Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose
The Vice President, Solutions Architect Engineering Manager craves working in a hands-on software design, and architecture environment, and leads by example to make sure time sensitive projects get done on time and to specifications. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of scalable, secure and innovative technology solutions that are used by millions of customers to service their loan and deposit accounts.
This VP will lead other Solutions Architecture Engineering leaders across our loan and deposit applications. They will manage architects who design and support our backend platforms that in turn are used by our web and mobile applications. They will also be responsible for leading critical Synchrony initiatives like AWS migration and other cost cutting and efficiency enhancing initiative. In addition, they will also be setting architectural standards for our applications across the Digital Servicing and Engineering teams, supporting new feature builds and new technology integration into our existing and new platforms.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of solution architects, providing mentorship, guidance and career development
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Define and enforce architectural standards, principles and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all solutions
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of solution architecture artifacts, including diagrams, technical specifications and documentation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to recommend innovative solutions that enhance business capabilities
- Mentor and influence all levels of the team: in this role, you will have the opportunity to influence up and down the chain of command
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony
- Assist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy, along with our application modernization and migration roadmap.
- Drive continuous improvement in the solution architecture process and delivery methodologies
- Manage risks and resolve architectural issues that may impact project delivery or system performance
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall IT roadmap development
- Liaise with vendors and third party providers to assess and integrate external technologies
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree and a minimum 12 years of experience with solution architecture OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 14 years of experience with software engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of Fiserv applications
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle, enterprise architecture frameworks and cloud technologies
- Excellence in technical communication with technical and non-technical peers
- Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization and partner with global development teams
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience on the digital service engineering environment
- Experience with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Devops practices
- Knowledge of data architecture, integration patterns and API management
- Experience with continuous integration environments
- Strong experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry
- Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- Experience developing and supporting financial/banking applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management and external groups
- Strong attention to detail in a team environment
- Strong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution options
Grade/Level: 13
The salary range for this position is 155,000.00 – 260,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
