Organizational Overview:
Synchrony's Risk Team is a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to providing oversight as 2nd Line of Defense. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars: Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars plays a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenge. This role is aligned to the Enterprise Risk Analytics team while primarily supporting the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, requiring cross-functional effectiveness. It requires a high level of expertise with data & analytics and minimal technical supervision to effectively contribute to projects.
Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP Enterprise Risk Analytics will lead data analytics and risk testing efforts to ensure data quality, integrity, and deliver actionable insights supporting the Risk Testing team. This role involves analyzing data from multiple internal systems and data warehouses, collaborating with teams across sites, and working closely with senior leadership to drive alignment and data-driven decisions. The AVP will also manage and develop a team of three analysts in a fast-paced, dynamic risk environment
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage end-to-end data analytics efforts to support the Risk Testing team, ensuring data quality, integrity, and completeness across multiple internal systems and data warehouses.

Analyze complex transactional and operational data to uncover trends, anomalies, and insights that inform risk testing strategies and enhance control effectiveness.

Provide actionable recommendations based on analytics findings to support the Risk Testing team in identifying and mitigating enterprise risk exposures.

Collaborate closely with Risk Testing teams across multiple sites, including VP and SVP stakeholders, to drive alignment, knowledge sharing, and effective communication of data-driven insights.

Develop, maintain, and improve analytics frameworks, tools, and processes that support risk testing objectives and foster innovation in analytics approaches.

Manage and mentor a team of three analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and development to ensure delivery of high-quality analytics outputs.

Partner with IT and data management teams to access and leverage relevant data sources, ensuring effective integration and utilization of internal systems and data warehouses.

Promote adherence to compliance requirements and enterprise risk policies as they relate to data analytics and risk testing activities.

Oversee documentation practices and the use of project management tools (such as JIRA) to track analytics projects, tasks, and deliverables.

Support continuous improvement initiatives by staying current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging analytics methodologies applicable to risk testing.

Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as needed to meet evolving enterprise risk analytics needs.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in any stream with 5+ Years of financial services experience or in lieu of degree 7+ years of experience required.

5+ years’ hands-on experience with one or more data analytics tools including SAS, SQL and Python
-
5+ years’ Experience using large quantities of data from various sources and performing advanced analytics to drive decision-making

2+ years’ hands-on experience with Tableau or similar Visual Analytics tool such as SAS VIYA or Power BI

Strong written/oral communication skills
Desired Skills/Knowledge:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related or Business field.

Experience in consumer credit/risk analytics role

Experience leading a team and managing multiple Stakeholders and while prioritizing various initiatives

Demonstrated ability to think beyond raw data and understand the underlying business context and sense potential analytics opportunities

Experience developing advanced data visualizations and presentations with Tableau or other Visual Analytics tool

Exposure to R, Python and Machine learning tools

Commercially effective and collaborative across teams and functions
-
Intermediate EXCEL skill set
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s Degree in any stream with 5+ Years of financial services experience or in lieu of degree 7+ years of experience required.
Work Timings: 2 PM – 11 PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
