Organizational Overview: This role will be part of Synchrony Identity and Access Management team which ties to Synchrony’s Information Security team
Role Summary/Purpose:
As the AVP, IAM End User Service Delivery and Automation, you will lead the strategy, execution, and continuous enhancement of Synchrony’s user access management lifecycle. You will manage a team of senior analysts and engineers responsible for ensuring timely, secure provisioning and deprovisioning of authorized access, while advancing automation initiatives through Agentic AI, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Utilizing Synchrony’s SailPoint IdentityIQ identity governance platform, Automation Anywhere RPA and Agentic AI technology, you will reduce manual efforts, enhance process controls, and support Synchrony’s identity governance and technology roadmap to protect workforce access and enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Product owner of Synchrony’s user access management service delivery and automation process, leading strategy, design and implementation, including oversight of all process controls, leveraging Synchrony’s SAFE Agile framework.

Lead and develop a high-performing team of senior analysts and engineers focused on user access provisioning, deprovisioning, oversight, and automation.

Drive identification, design, development, and deployment of RPA solutions and integrations that minimize manual tasks for security administration, increasing efficiency and accuracy.

Collaborate with security administration leads and SailPoint IdentityIQ onboarding teams to facilitate application integrations with the RPA platform and develop supporting documentation, job aids, and training materials.

Oversee user access management controls including timely termination of access, automated provisioning error resolution, and proper authorization of access, aiming to improve user experience and process reliability.

Formulate and execute agentic AI and automation strategies aligned with business goals to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain compliance and governance.

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, communicate project status and benefits, and ensure effective implementation.

Foster continuous improvement by adopting emerging technologies, refining processes, and encouraging innovation within the IAM organization.

Own Synchrony’s user access management risks and controls, performing risk assessments, control reviews, and remediation efforts while liaising with regulators, auditors, and second line of defense teams.

Communicate complex process findings, risks, and recommendations clearly and effectively to senior management and stakeholders.

Provide deep technical expertise on user access administration, SailPoint IdentityIQ configurations, Agentic AI and IAM best practices.

Maintain management and compliance of user access management processes necessary to support platform capabilities and integrations.

Collaborate with Synchrony technology teams to resolve escalated IAM product issues and smoothly deliver escalated support.

Author, review, and maintain comprehensive documentation for service delivery processes AI agents and RPA bots, including controls, workflows, sequence diagrams, and training materials.

Proactively identify, prioritize, and remediate process and automation issues impacting access management and RPA bots.

Engage broadly with stakeholders to align user access reconciliation and governance enhancements with evolving business objectives and risk frameworks.

Mentor and coach team members to foster continuous learning, knowledge growth, and professional development.

Support talent acquisition and retention by promoting IAM end user services within the organization, attracting top-tier professionals early and in their career journey
Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Management

Minimum of 8 years of IT experience, including at least 3 years leading identity governance processes and technologies in a regulated environment (financial services experience preferred).

Minimum 5 years of role administration experience within SailPoint IdentityIQ.
-
Minimum 1 year of leading Agentic AI initiatives in IAM security administration services.
-
Minimum 1 year of experience as an IAM process control owner.

Minimum 1 year of experience managing and developing teams within IAM, including analysts and engineers focused on service delivery and automation.
Desired Characteristics:
-
Experience as an Agile product owner or product manager, ideally within the SAFE Agile framework and using Jira or similar Agile toolsets.

Deep knowledge of IAM end user access management processes and controls within large enterprise environments, with specific expertise managing SailPoint IdentityIQ workflows.

Strong background in driving automation initiatives through RPA or other automation platforms, with quantifiable improvements in process efficiency and error reduction.

Expertise in service and process design with a focus on identity and access management best practices, risk management, and control implementation.

Excellent executive presence with strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, capable of interacting with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Proven collaboration skills facilitating effective partnerships with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deliverables across diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns or correlations, and drive data-informed decision-making.

Experience cultivating and managing effective external relationships, including vendors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

Demonstrated success interfacing with external regulators and auditors as an IAM process control owner or related role.

Knowledge and practical experience implementing IAM controls aligned with regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, SOX, and NIST standards (including 800-53, 800-63, 800-79-2, 800-157) within the financial services or similarly regulated industries.

Strong understanding of business workflows, processes, and impacts related to identity management solutions and how access governance influences broader organizational risk and compliance posture.

Work timings: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
