Employee-Driven Benefits

Our Benefits Blueprint

One of the keys to creating and maintaining a great place to work for all at Synchrony is how we involve our employees in designing their work experience. Co-designing our benefits package with our team ensures their needs are met and has a direct impact on their happiness, performance and engagement. By regularly listening to our employees’ feedback, we’re able to collaboratively design unique, innovative benefits that support their total well-being—mental, physical, financial and everything in between.

Get feedback

To ensure that every employee can give their feedback, we provide lots of different ways for them to get involved in co-designing their benefits. Through anonymous surveys, leadership roundtables, “Ask Us Anything” Townhalls and even one-on-one conversations with managers, every member of our team can help shape the resources to support what wellness means to them.

Test & Iterate

The co-design process doesn’t end after we get initial feedback—we also test new benefits together. In partnership with Moms First and as a member of the National Business Coalition for Childcare, we deployed a study with Boston Consulting Group to measure the impact of our childcare benefits on employees—and we will use those learnings to optimize our benefit offerings.

The additional care services offered by Synchrony significantly assisted me with my son's summer camp experience. Given the high tuition fees associated with the YMCA camp in my area, his ability to attend the camp for the entire summer, rather than just half, brought him immense joy as a child and provided me with peace of mind as a mother working from home.

Re-evaluate

We also continuously re-evaluate our current benefit offerings along with ideas from employees to make sure we meet their needs. For example, we recently enhanced and expanded our Wellness Reimbursement Program to include a more holistic view of wellness. This enhancement means that employees can have a broader range of resources to help them on their wellness journey and now includes things like fitness apps, swimming lessons, art classes, meditation and more.

Communicate

At Synchrony, we recognize that even the most customized benefits can’t help employees unless they know about them and how to navigate them. That’s why we prioritize clear communication and provide information in a variety of ways. Through videos, infographics, text documentation, training, partnerships with our eight Employee Resource Groups or our Employee Assistance Program, Synchrony employees have access to information in the way that works for them. And this communication starts right when you join us.

While joining a new company can be overwhelming and often comes with changes both personally and professionally, Synchrony’s virtual onboarding experience allowed me to navigate employee benefits, resources and contacts at my fingertips. I was able to immerse myself in the company culture and feel a part of the team from day one.
