3 Inspiring Career Paths

Using Synchrony’s Career Development Tools

At Synchrony, we understand that your career journey will be as unique as you are. That’s why we equip you with the tools you’ll need to steer your career where you want to take it. Together these tools can help you achieve your career ambitions. Here are three ways our people have used some of these tools:

Jackie Molina

Curiosity drove her to seek Critical Experiences across different functions.

When Jackie started at Synchrony in 2006, she never pictured herself being a technology leader. She always had an interest in tech but didn’t have a formal education in that sector. Starting as a Loan Servicer in our Operations function, Jackie became interested in how the systems she interacted with worked. This led her to her next position as a Business Analyst, interpreting the same data she had been responsible for inputting in her previous role. In each successive role, Jackie sought meaningful Critical Experiences which helped her prepare for her future as a leader.

After six years with Synchrony, Jackie left to pursue more experiences with an outside firm specializing in mobile wallet technology. But she couldn’t stay away for long. Jackie returned to Synchrony as a boomerang in 2014, bringing new skills and perspectives that would help her succeed in the next part of her career journey. Jackie is now VP, eCarts Strategy, where she’s responsible for leading a team that identifies emerging channels, builds digital eCommerce platforms and finds creative solutions for partners.

Cassondra Thurmond

Networking and Mentorship helps her see her potential and connect with others.

When she began at Synchrony as AVP, Commercial Marketing in 2021, Cassondra Thurmond discovered a culture that embraced her unique experiences and a support system in our Diversity Networks+. After only a few weeks, she had found her mentor through our Black Experiences+ “Lunch with a Leader” speaker series. Cassondra says, “I love that Synchrony really believes in promoting from within and pouring into you and into your career.” Cassondra’s connections and mentor helped her prepare for her promotion to VP, Sr. Product Marketing Manager. As part of her role, she’s continuing our culture of connection and career growth as a mentor to the next generation of leaders.

Francisco Berrios

Synchrony’s STEP program (Career Development Programs) took his natural leadership skills and honed them so he could seek bigger roles in the company.

Francisco Berrios began his Synchrony career as a bilingual Call Center Representative, doing the important work of helping our customers with their needs. Quickly, his managers recognized his natural talent for leadership and nominated him to be a participant in our STEP Program. This program is designed to nurture leadership skills and set participants on a path to career success. After graduating from the program, Francisco used what he learned explored a variety of roles at Synchrony with increasing responsibilities in Operations and Client Initiatives.

Francisco has been selected to go through additional Synchrony leadership development programs like the Sales Leadership Development Experience and Strategic Pathways, a program designed for high potential, diverse VP talent looking to become Senior Leaders. Francisco now works as VP, Client Development Manager for a major U.S. retailer, one of the key relationships for Synchrony, where he supports client needs and facilitates new projects, initiatives and opportunities.
