Spam Job Postings and what to be aware of FAQS:

What is Recruitment Fraud?

Recruitment fraud happens when a false job is posted using the companies name by individuals not affiliated with the company, targeting job seekers. This is normally done through job search sites, fake websites, unsolicited emails, fake email addresses, social media or even via phone calls and SMS. While conducting false interviews, the people posing as recruiters often request victims to provide personal information as well as bank account information as part of their fictitious recruitment process.

Please note, Synchrony NEVER sends payment or asks for payments from applicants to secure a job.

How can you identify fraud?

  • Is it too good to be true? If it feels that way, it probably is.
  • Are you being offered a signing bonus?
  • What is being asked of you? Are you being asked for information that goes beyond a typical application process, such as date of birth, passport details, bank details, etc.? If so, it is likely fake.
  • How are you being contacted? Check to ensure that all correspondence is coming from an @syf.com email address.

If you have been targeted, what should you do next?

  • Do NOT respond to the fake recruiters
  • Report correspondence immediately to our career support line 1-866-301-5627
  • If you have interacted with the fake recruiters and disclosed any personal information, we recommend that you contact your local law enforcement and file a report

What you should NOT do?

  • Do not accept checks or any form of payment
  • Never MAKE any form of payment
  • Do not disclose your personal or financial details to anyone you do not know and who is not a verified Synchrony representative
  • Do not communicate or reply to communications with fake recruiters
