The VP, Global Payroll leads Synchrony’s global payroll delivery across the United States, Canada, India, and the Philippines. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery while partnering closely with in-country payroll teams and vendors to drive consistent governance, process alignment, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations across the US, Canada, India, and the Philippines, ensuring consistent service delivery and performance
- Establish and maintain global payroll and time tracking policies and procedures aligned with local regulatory requirements
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes across regions and coordinate timely implementation with vendors and internal partners
- Own payroll governance and accuracy, including control design, review/validation practices, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across global processes and vendors
- Serve as the global escalation owner for complex payroll risks and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder alignment
- Oversee payroll-related accounting coordination to ensure alignment between payroll outputs and financial reporting requirements
- Manage payroll vendor performance and relationships, ensuring accountability, service quality, and alignment with operational standards
- Partner with HR, HRIS, Finance, Legal, and vendors to ensure end-to-end process integrity
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including multi-country payroll oversight (US plus at least one of India/Philippines strongly preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or in lieu of degree, 6 years equivalent Payroll experience\certification
- Extensive knowledge of US payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
- Expertise in payroll controls, audit readiness, and reconciliations
- Demonstrated experience validating payroll tax filings and statutory compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and manage complex, high-risk operational processes
- Strong understanding of payroll systems, integrations, and data governance (HRIS-to-payroll-to-GL)
- Experience leading payroll transformation, standardization, and automation initiatives at scale
- Familiarity with SOX controls and regulated/financial services environments
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.

Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
