Role Summary/Purpose:
Reporting to the Home & Auto EVP & CEO, the SVP, Home Core Leader is accountable for leading Synchrony’s partner/industry strategy and commercial performance across the HomeCore segment of the Home & Auto platform. This role drives profitable growth across multi‑billion‑dollar portfolios through disciplined commercial execution, new partnership strategies, and strong operating cadence across a complex, matrixed organization. As an enterprise commercial leader, the SVP sets segment strategy, ensures execution against growth and profitability targets, strengthens partner relationships, and develops leadership talent across the organization. This role is also responsible for growing Synchrony’s presence and influence within the furniture, appliance & electronics industries. The successful candidate will manage a team directly while also leading a cross-functional team focused on driving growth imperatives and partnerships in a highly complex environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Segment Strategy & Growth
- Develop the strategic vision and multi-year growth plan for the Home Core segment, including identification of new market opportunities and expansion/optimization of existing products and solutions.
- Drive commercialization strategies that increase sales, account volume, partner engagement, and revenue across portfolios while improving profitability and risk-adjusted returns.
- Establish “best in class” commercial initiatives and consistent go-to-market disciplines across the segment.
- P&L / Business Performance Leadership
- Own performance management across the multi‑billion‑dollar Home Core segment, including revenue, expense, and profitability outcomes aligned to enterprise objectives.
- Define and manage performance targets and KPIs (leading and lagging indicators) to measure growth, portfolio health, and partner performance.
- Partner with Finance, Marketing, Analytics, Risk, Credit, Operations, and Product to evaluate investment choices, prioritize initiatives, and ensure strong execution and accountability.
- Partner & Industry Leadership
- Represent Synchrony’s interests externally across the furniture, appliances, and electronics industries, including executive partner engagement, participation in industry-wide events, government relations, governance, and major negotiations.
- Lead and oversee complex contract negotiations, including pricing, economics, performance commitments, and long-term value creation.
- Leverage key industry influencers and networks to originate and advance new partnership opportunities and to expand existing relationships.
- Leadership & Talent
- Lead and direct a team of General Managers and senior commercial leaders across the platform, ensuring alignment to shared priorities and a consistent operating model.
- Lead a cross-functional business team to deliver on growth commitments
- Build leadership bench strength through talent identification, coaching, succession planning, and organizational development.
- Drive sales and commercial skill development to enhance discipline, consultative selling, and enterprise collaboration.
- Cross-Functional Execution
- Build strong relationships with Synchrony leadership and key stakeholders to deliver cross-functional initiatives spanning Product, Marketing, Analytics, Technology, Operations, Finance, Risk, Legal, and Compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all internal policies and external regulatory requirements; establish and reinforce a strong compliance culture across the organization.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree OR 15 years of progressive commercial sales experience.
- 10+ years business development, client relationship, and/or negotiation experience in healthcare, retail, or related industries.
- 10+ years people management experience including experience leading sales teams and influencing in a matrixed environment.
- 10+ years demonstrated superior sales, business, and financial acumen.
- 10+ years demonstrated experience in taking business concepts to effective strategy to monetization.
- 10+ years demonstrated experience in leading/closing contract negotiations, competitive pricing, business planning, and P&L management.
- Must have a deep understanding of commercial products, services, and capabilities as it relates to retail financing
- Strong overall knowledge of card business including risk, collections, operations, marketing, and finance.
- Proven ability to innovate and find creative solutions to meeting business goals.
- Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
Desired Characteristics:
- Deep understanding of SYF products, services, and capabilities
- Advanced degree - MBA and 15 years of commercial sales experience.
- Proven ability to influence senior corporate decision makers
- eCommerce and financial payment industry experience.
- Ability to effectively interface and represent Synchrony at the most senior levels in the client organization.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work independently yet as key member and contributor to a broader team.
- Genuine passion for the furniture, appliance and electronics industries and strong understanding of the retail industry

We’re proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.
*Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
