Organizational Overview:

The Enterprise Integration Services team plays a pivotal role in connecting and orchestrating systems and applications across the organization. The team specializes in architecting, designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable integration solutions (APIs, middleware, authentication, messaging, and file-based integrations) that enable seamless data flow, improve business functionality, and support enterprise modernization initiatives.

Role Summary/Purpose:

This role is responsible for designing, supporting, and continuously improving enterprise B2B/EDI and managed file transfer solutions. It owns end-to-end reliability of document/file exchanges using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator and Connect:Direct (SFTP/FTP), partners with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues, and delivers automation and enhancements through Java/Spring and UNIX scripting to improve stability, throughput, and operational efficiency in a 24x7 environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve the EDI/B2B product/platform by guiding Business and IT partners on best practices, standard usage patterns, and operational readiness.
  • Manage high-volume B2B/EDI operations in a 24x7 environment using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (B2Bi), ensuring platform stability, performance, and uptime.
  • Design, build, and maintain B2B messaging flows including communication protocols, routing, processing rules, and end-to-end document lifecycle handling.
  • Ensure on-time, accurate EDI document transmission and processing by partnering with internal/external communications teams and proactively addressing throughput and failure points.
  • Implement and support EDI/B2B mappings and drive new trading partner/vendor onboarding, including setup, testing, certification, and production cutover.
  • Implement and administer Connect:Direct secure file transfer solutions, including configuration, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting of processes across systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex integration and transmission issues across host systems, servers, and external partner connections; perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes.
  • Partner with third-party vendors to resolve platform/software defects, coordinate escalations, and ensure timely remediation with clear root-cause understanding.
  • Monitor EDI and communication subsystems and respond to alerts, driving rapid triage, restoration, and stakeholder communication as needed.
  • Collaborate with production support and engineering teams to deliver strong incident, problem, and change management outcomes (including post-incident follow-ups).
  • Drive operational excellence and automation, reducing recurring incidents through standardization, self-healing/automated recovery, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical and operational documentation (runbooks, onboarding guides, mappings/flows, support procedures) to ensure consistency and knowledge continuity.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Managed File Transfer (MFT): Strong working knowledge of Connect:Direct, SFTP, and FTP, including setup, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of secure file transmissions.
  • B2B/EDI Platform: Hands-on administration and support experience with 4+ years of IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (B2Bi) in production environments (deployments, issue triage, performance/availability support).
  • Backend Development: Development experience with 2+ years of Java and the Spring ecosystem — Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring JDBC — for building and supporting integration/services components.
  • Scripting & Automation: Good experience in UNIX/Linux shell scripting for automation, operational tooling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Domain Experience: Experience supporting and developing financial services/banking applications.
  • Cloud Exposure (Plus): Familiarity with AWS and/or GCP is a plus.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence clients, teams, leadership, and external partners.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years relevant experience in Information Technology, or in lieu of a degree 7+ years relevant experience in information Technology

Work Timings: 2 PM -11 PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs) We are proud to offer flexibility at Synchrony. Our way of working allows you the option to work from home or workspaces in our Regional Engagement Hubs—Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, or Delhi/NCR. Occasionally you may be required to commute or travel to Hyderabad or one of the Regional Engagement Hubs for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
