Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Mobile Engineering Manager - Digital Servicing is a people management and technical leadership role responsible for managing mobile development teams (iOS and Android) within the DSE India Mobile organization. This role combines organizational leadership, people management, and technical strategy to ensure high-quality mobile application delivery across multiple agile teams. This leader manages team members directly, oversees hiring and onboarding, drives technical excellence across both platforms, and ensures alignment with enterprise standards while fostering team growth and engagement in a cross-shore development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead mobile development teams spanning both iOS and Android platforms across various mobile applications
- Provide direct people management including performance reviews, career development planning, and coaching
- Drive hiring strategy and execution including candidate screening, technical interviews, and selection decisions
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for team members and consultants
- Lead technical strategy and architecture decisions for mobile development across managed teams
- Partner and collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, UX designers, Application Architects and other stakeholders to design and deliver innovative, cutting-edge mobile applications
- Ensure code quality standards, PR review processes, and technical best practices across all mobile teams
- Foster team engagement through regular 1-1s, team syncs, and professional development initiatives
- Manage vendor relationships and consultant/supplier coordination for mobile development
- Drive technical community initiatives including Mobile Community of Practice sessions
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security, InfoSec, and accessibility standards
- Coordinate with cross-functional leads on dependencies, technical strategy, and delivery alignment
- Monitor and report on team metrics including velocity, quality, and operational excellence
- Lead incident response and participate in on-call rotations for production support
- Assess team compositions to ensure optimal staffing levels for program goals
- Enforce capacity allocation for technical debt and tools/library updates in alignment with CoP goals
- Collaborate with QE leads to track automation roadmap and influence test strategy planning
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and cross-training across iOS and Android teams
- Actively participate in PI planning, ART Syncs, and own or escalate technology and staffing risks
- Ensure Change Management processes are followed, owning release readiness and production readiness before DCA
- Manage device inventory and asset management for mobile development teams
- Drive adoption of new mobile technologies, frameworks, and development practices across teams
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong expertise in mobile development across iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit) and/or Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) platforms
- Experience working with APIs, databases, and modern programming paradigms
- Solid understanding of mobile fundamentals including networking, debugging, and memory management
- Knowledge of mobile architecture patterns such as MVC, MVP, MVVM, Clean Architecture, and VIPER
- Experience with asynchronous programming patterns
- Strong understanding of iOS and Android UI/UX best practices and platform design guidelines
- Experience with dependency management tools (SPM, CocoaPods, Gradle)
- Proven experience managing mobile development teams with direct reports
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and SAFe principles
- Experience with performance management, coaching, and career development
- Knowledge of hiring processes, technical screening, and candidate evaluation
- Understanding of mobile CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with mobile SDK development and distribution
- Proficient knowledge of RESTful web services
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience leading teams in cross-shore, distributed environments across time zones
- Broad understanding of both iOS and Android ecosystems, tools, and platform-specific nuances
- Experience with Bitrise, CloudBees/Jenkins, and mobile CI/CD automation platforms
- Knowledge of certificate management, App Store and Play Store submission processes, and release management
- Familiarity with observability tools like New Relic, Splunk, and Cloudwatch
- Experience with financial services applications and regulatory compliance requirements
- Excellence in stakeholder management and communication with leadership and external partners
- Ability to influence organizational strategy and drive technical initiatives across multiple teams
- Strong conflict resolution and people management skills
- Experience with supplier/vendor management and contractor coordination
- Understanding of budget planning and resource allocation
- Knowledge of accessibility compliance (AA standards) and security scanning processes
- Experience with mobile architecture patterns and design principles across both platforms
- Ability to balance technical debt management with feature delivery priorities
- Strong presentation and documentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years relevant experience in Information Technology, or in lieu of a degree 8+ years of relevant experience in information Technology.
Work Timings: 2PM to 11 PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings
