Role Summary/Purpose:
As a AVP in Engineering GRC, you will lead, define, and scale the governance, risk, and compliance strategy across the Engineering organization and partner groups. You will drive enterprise-level risk posture, regulatory alignment, and engineering control frameworks.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional influence to embed GRC into the engineering culture.
You will act as a key bridge between Engineering, Cybersecurity, Risk, and Audit teams, driving proactive risk management and ensuring continuous audit readiness across applications and platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and drive enterprise-wide engineering GRC strategy, frameworks, and operating model.
- Partner with senior engineering, cybersecurity, and risk leadership to embed controls into engineering ecosystems.
- Establish risk management frameworks, including risk identification, prioritization, and mitigation models.
- Provide oversight of vulnerability management programs, ensuring:
- SLA adherence across org
- Risk-based prioritization
- Executive-level visibility
- Drive standardization of secure engineering practices and control baselines.
- Lead audit readiness, control maturity improvement, and remediation governance.
- Build and oversee enterprise dashboards, KRIs, and risk reporting for leadership.
- Manage cross-functional dependencies across Engineering verticals and external partner organizations.
- Mentor and guide team members and build GRC capability within the organization.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Strong understanding of modern engineering architectures (microservices, APIs, cloud-native systems).
- Experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, OCC expectations, and ISO/NIST.
- Hands-on exposure to vulnerability management and application security tools.
- Experience in audit support, control testing, and remediation tracking.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and associated security controls.
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate technical risks into business impact.
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, or GRC platforms
Desired Skills / Knowledge :
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with policy-as-code and compliance automation tools.
- Understanding of identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and data protection controls.
- Exposure to third-party/vendor risk management.
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria:Minimum 8+Years of experience mentioned in “ Required Skill/Knowledge” with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. In Lieu of degree , minimum of 10 years of experience required.
Work Timings: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
