Organizational Overview :
The Enterprise Integration Services team plays a pivotal role in connecting and orchestrating systems and applications across the organization. The team specializes in architecting, designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable integration solutions (APIs, middleware, authentication, messaging, and file-based integrations) that enable seamless data flow, improve business functionality, and support enterprise modernization initiatives.
Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Solution Architect – Enterprise Integration Services plays a pivotal technical role within the Synchrony by providing deep technical expertise across the Middleware platform and its components, including Java Spring Boot, cloud services, and integration/messaging technologies, with a focus on developing enterprise-grade, resilient orchestrated microservices and data services that are platform-agnostic and deployable across any cloud environment, leveraging tools and technologies such as IBM ITX, Boomi, IBM MQ, Kafka, Amazon MSK, and other relevant integration capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture and engineering delivery for new enterprise services/platforms and ongoing enhancements within a SAFe delivery model.
- Partner with Product Owners, Product Managers, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional stakeholders to align solution direction with prioritized business outcomes.
- Own end-to-end solution architecture for cross-functional, multi-platform systems, ensuring quality, scalability, availability, extensibility, and maintainability.
- Architect and lead development of enterprise integration services across multiple applications; support and guide testing strategies and integration validation.
- Drive technology strategy and modernization, including evaluation of emerging technologies and planning/execution of technology migrations with hands-on technical leadership.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across teams (SDLC, CI/CD, resiliency, observability, secure coding).
- Provide architectural governance through scheduled code/design reviews across dependent teams to ensure adherence to standards, patterns, and quality benchmarks.
- Design cloud-native solutions using Java ecosystems, enabling effective service design and implementation using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Cloud.
- Enable modern deployment patterns leveraging Docker and Kubernetes, including guidance on containerization, orchestration, and operational readiness.
- Design and implement IBM ITX-based integration solutions, including Design Studio development, configuration, and implementation.
- Promote effective use of AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve engineering productivity and consistency.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and production support, including issue triage, root-cause analysis, and coordination with vendors (e.g., IBM) via support tickets as needed.
- Provide periodic 24x7 on-call coverage to support critical services and ensure operational continuity.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, DevOps, and Agile-based development.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and associated container management/orchestration tools.
- Strong experience designing and developing event-driven applications using Kafka.
- Strong experience with caching systems such as Redis and/or Gemfire.
- Strong experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
- Strong experience using monitoring/observability tools such as New Relic.
- Minimum 7+ years of IBM ITX, including Design Studio, setup, and implementation.
- Proven leadership in DevOps, DevSecOps, and SRE practices (automation, resiliency, incident management, CI/CD)
- Strong background in high availability, fault tolerance, scalability, and security for mission-critical systems.

Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 7 years of experience with software engineering OR, in lieu of degree 9 years of experience with software engineering.
Work Timings: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs) We are proud to offer flexibility at Synchrony. Our way of working allows you the option to work from home or workspaces in our Regional Engagement Hubs—Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, or Delhi/NCR. Occasionally you may be required to commute or travel to Hyderabad or one of the Regional Engagement Hubs for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
