Organizational Overview:
This role is part of the Sourcing Team within the Source to Pay (S2P) organization at Synchrony. The Source to Pay team provides centralized support for supplier procurement, contracting, and ongoing supplier management across all Synchrony functions. By streamlining contracting processes and ensuring strong governance, the team enables the company to efficiently secure the products and services essential to its daily operations.
Role Summary:
The Bid Desk Manager (Individual Contributor role) leads enterprise-wide competitive bidding events (RFx and e-auctions) across all business units. This role serves as a key liaison between Business stakeholders, Sourcing leaders, P2P/S2P teams, and Suppliers to deliver compliant, efficient, and value-driven procurement outcomes. The role owns bid event execution, governance and controls, stakeholder enablement, reporting, and continuous improvement—including identification of automation/AI opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Bid Event Leadership (RFx / e-Auctions)
- Serve as the primary liaison among internal requesters, Sourcing, P2P/S2P teams, and suppliers for competitive bidding activities; lead end-to-end execution of competitive events, including RFx development, supplier communications, event administration in Coupa, and multiple e-auction formats.
- Creation of bid analysis, supporting supplier evaluation activities, and communicating results to suppliers; provide clear award recommendations aligned to business requirements; negotiate with designated suppliers for quick-bid commodities and document saving outcomes per policy.
Opportunity Identification & Value Delivery
- Analyze historical purchase data and tail-spend to identify, prioritize, and expand opportunities for competitive bidding.
- Drive procurement initiatives that improve cycle time, productivity, and total cost by introducing and sustaining supplier competition through bidding.
Governance, Risk, Controls & Compliance
- Establish, monitor, and enforce controls supporting a compliant competitive bidding process; monitor and review Procurement and Sourcing controls and compliance; ensure appropriate approvals and documentation are maintained.
- Monitor process workflows to support timely requisition submissions and clean handoffs across the S2P/P2P lifecycle.
Stakeholder Support, Reporting, Supplier Performance & Enablement
- Provide Tier-2 customer care support for escalations, complex inquiries, and issue resolution related to sourcing events and purchasing workflows; partner cross-functionally with S2P and Business teams to streamline purchasing processes and improve the end-user experience.
- Develop and maintain various dashboards and reports for multiple commodities such as cycle time, participation, compliance, savings, exceptions and supplier performance; conduct quarterly supplier performance/feedback calls with designated suppliers to drive service and process improvements; deliver training and awareness sessions for suppliers and internal stakeholders on process changes, expectations, and compliance requirements.
Continuous Improvement, Automation & Innovation / Contracting Support
- Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort, eliminate redundancies, and strengthen controls; identify and propose automation/AI opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and customer experience.
- Create non-strategic contract records for specific commodities by completing required metadata fields in the CLM tool and ensuring alignment with sourcing outcomes.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/ Finance or related field (or equivalent business-related experience) with 7+ years of experience in procurement/sourcing/bid management experience (or 5+ years with a post-graduate degree) Baseline requirement: 5+ years Procurement or Sourcing experience or in Lieu of a degree 9+ years of experience in procurement/sourcing/bid management experience
- Tools: Proficiency with Coupa/Ariba or comparable tools and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Advanced analytical skills and basic negotiation capabilities with demonstrated experience managing competitive bid events (RFx and e-auctions)
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple stakeholders and priorities with little supervision
Desired Skills/Knowledge :
- Experience within Financial Service or Banking Industry
- Proven strong facilitation skills and experience delivering presentations
- Must Have: Proven quantitative, analytical and basic negotiation skill set
- Must Have: High enthusiasm and desire to work in fast paced, ever changing environment
- Must Have: Proven ability to manage complex initiatives across multiple teams/platforms

Work Timings: 5:30 AM - 2:30 PM EST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Our way of working allows you the option to work from home or workspaces in our Regional Engagement Hubs—Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, or Delhi/NCR.
