Organizational Overview:
The Performance Marketing Team is the engine behind business growth as it handles the majority of marketing activities. This includes targeting the right audience through campaigns, distributing content via channel marketing, conducting a thorough analysis of campaign launches and budgets, and also ensuring compliance via surveillance and governance all to maximize results and maintain a competitive edge. Together this team drives ROI and elevates Synchrony's brand presence in a dynamic market.
Role Summary/Purpose:
Synchrony is continuing to build a world class Performance Media and Creative Organization committed to driving results with our retail and payments partners while also delivering leading customer experiences. Within this organization, our Creative Technology and Development Team will be responsible for designing and delivering dynamic media ad formats, HTML email templates and optimized landing pages. As an Analyst, you will be responsible for the coding, producing, proofing, testing, and troubleshooting HTML email templates. As an ideal candidate, you should have in-depth knowledge of creative & brand guidelines and specifications that include email/graphic design, testing across devices/platforms to ensure a consistent email experience in webmail as well as other email applications such as Google Gmail and Microsoft Outlook.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize HTML/CSS and email marketing best practices to create and code responsive email templates
- Develop responsive email code from design files such as Figma, PSD, InDesign (INDD), XD, etc.
- Modify and maintain existing email templates based on client requirements
- Perform quality checks and peer reviews to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and coding standards
- Apply email development best practices, accessibility requirements, and applicable compliance regulations
- Optimize HTML emails for performance, maintainability, and alignment with company goals and objectives
- Test and debug templates to ensure consistent rendering across major browsers, email apps, ISPs, and devices
- Code, set up, and validate ad hoc email templates, including dynamic content configurations
- Collaborate with teammates to improve processes, documentation, and work methods for greater efficiency
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of professional experience in advertising/digital marketing agencies and/or in-house digital creative teams
- Minimum 2+ years of proficiency with HTML, CSS, table-based layouts, mobile-responsive design (including dark mode support), and JavaScript
- Minimum 2+ years of enterprise-level experience with email and/or digital marketing platforms such as SFMC, Eloqua, Zeta Mail, or Epsilon PCM; agency experience preferred
- General understanding of how marketing supports business stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to use AI-assisted development responsibly, adhering to data security guidelines and validating all AI-generated output through established QA, testing, and code review processes
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and process documentation skills
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with a proactive approach to following up on requirements
Desired Characteristics:
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of HTML, CSS, and front-end development, including responsive email design
- Experience using design tools, including Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, etc.)
- Technical understanding of platform-specific scripting languages (e.g., AMPscript, FreeMarker, Liquid) and/or advanced JavaScript is a plus
- Extensive experience with email testing tools, such as Litmus, for thorough QA across multiple browsers, clients, and ISPs
- Understanding of dynamic content configuration based on segmentation and personalization techniques
- Hands-on experience with AI/GenAI assistants and platforms (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, AWS Bedrock) to accelerate HTML email build-out, refactoring, and troubleshooting while maintaining cross-client compatibility, code quality, and brand standards
- Working knowledge of prompt engineering and building “prompt-to-template” processes, including creating standardized prompts, reusable prompt libraries, and verification steps to reduce errors in AI-generated code; validates outputs against internal standards and Litmus rendering results
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members
- Ability to professionally interact with key stakeholders throughout the development process
Work Timings: 12 PM to 9PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose.
