Synchrony is a Company that Cares

Caring for our people and our communities

Great Place to Work® and PEOPLE magazine named Synchrony as one of the 2023 People Companies That Care® for the fourth year in a row. This list spotlights companies that have achieved business success while simultaneously caring for their people and making the world a better place.

Caring is one of our core values and is part of everything we do at Synchrony. We’re committed to moving people forward—our employees, partners, customers and those in the communities we serve.

For our employees, we actively listen and co-design benefits and programs that support their unique needs at work and at home. From industry leading benefits and flexible working to career development resources, we strive to support employees holistically.

Our benefits go beyond healthcare and 401K plans. We want our people to be their best both mentally and physically. With resources like wellness coaches, financial education, backup care and up to 22 weeks of paid maternity leave, we’re committed to caring for our employees’ total well-being.

Work-Life balance is also important to us and how we work is anchored in flexibility and choice. Employees have the option to work from home, in one of our offices, or a combination of both, putting emphasis on purposeful engagements across our global teams. This hybrid approach enables meaningful connection and collaboration both in-person and digitally.

Our approach to professional development is just as unique as our employees’ career goals. We know there is no linear career and no singular approach to development, and we are committed to supporting our employee’s professional goals by offering on demand and in person courses, critical experiences, and resources that will enhance their skills and help them grow their career. Employees also have the option to pursue their education through our tuition reimbursement program that offers up to $20,000 per year as well as our skill-based certification program that offers up to $9,000 per year.

For our communities, our employees are instrumental in leading efforts that care for the communities where we live and work. We proudly offer a gift-matching program and during our Season of Caring, we increase the match to 2:1 guaranteeing critical financial support to various non-profit partners. Last year, together we raised $2.1 million and logged over 7,000 volunteer hours for our nonprofit partners in the United States, India and the Philippines.

Through our Education as an Equalizer initiative, we’re expanding access to education for underserved students by investing $50 million to help underrepresented groups acquire the skills, resources and training they need to advance their careers and livelihoods. In addition, we partner with nonprofit organizations like AfroTech, the Latinx Executive Alliance and The Mom Project to advance diverse talent and provide opportunities for the next generation of leaders.

We’re proud to be a company that cares – for our people and for our communities. Learn more about our culture.
