Q: What did you know about Synchrony before joining and what was surprising to learn after joining Synchrony?

A: When I was first contacted about working here, I didn’t know much about Synchrony. I just saw the job description and it perfectly matched what I was looking for in my next role. One thing that surprised me was the diversity on the interview panel, everyone was so warm and welcoming and I thought to myself that these were people who I’d want to spend time with outside of work.

Q: Can you share more about your experience working here so far?

A: It’s been a great experience so far. My first role was SVP Home Market Leader, mostly working with small and medium furniture clients. It was a great way to learn about Synchrony and the furniture industry. When the CMO role opened, I applied and moved into it, which is the fastest I’ve ever moved from one role to the next.

Q: What exciting projects have you been a part of?

A: We have more than 150 clients of varying sizes, and one of my priorities is making sure we’re allocating our resources efficiently and delivering the right strategies to our clients, to grow both of our businesses. Clients are asking us, “How do you get customers to our door?” We’re answering that question by leveraging relationships across Synchrony to drive cross-selling, cross-selling and cross-promotion through our marketplace.

Q: Tell us about your collaborative leadership style.

A: I’m a leader who is available when help is needed but I like for my team to be autonomous. We have smart, capable people who achieve the best success when we let them be smart and capable. As a leader, I’m there to move obstacles out of the way and connect the dots across teams so we’re all working together. Because we’re primarily virtual, I’m also committed to making sure my team feels belonging and that their work matters.

Q: How were you able to successfully create a cross-functional network for your clients?

A: To create the best solutions for our clients, we work like a hub in a wheel – our job is to strategize and plan but we leverage teams from across the business to execute. We work closely with the performance marketing, analytics and especially tech teams. There’s no way we could deliver on the strategies we build without our internal partners.

Q: Your promotion to SVP, Chief Marketing Officer for Home & Auto was last year. What are your year one learnings as you’ve grown in this position?

A: Some of my greatest learnings have been about the synergies between home specialty, auto and furniture. What I want to do is build solutions for clients that are scalable across multiple clients we partner with in the Home & Auto vertical. Part of that is spending time developing strong relationships with both Synchrony leaders and our clients to make sure I’m understanding client needs. We’re focused on becoming true partners with our clients and coming up with solutions that will grow their business. As an organization, Synchrony is incredibly supportive and open to new ideas.

Q: What are you most excited about in the future of the Home & Auto market?

A: I really feel Synchrony is on the precipice of change. I knew very little about Synchrony 2 years ago and I’m excited because we’re beginning to explore new possibilities for our brand. and the relationship we hold with customers as well as partners. Synchrony is a perfect fit for me because we’re both open to changing and doing things differently.
