Role Summary/Purpose: Organizational Overview:
This role is in Procurement Technology function within the Source-to-Pay (S2P) organization in Synchrony. The Source-to-Pay team provides centralized supplier procurement, contracting, & ongoing management support to all Synchrony Functions in delivering those products and services needed to be successful in our daily operations.
Role Summary
Set strategy and lead transformation of S2P Reporting, Analytics, and Data Management to improve customer experience, reduce manual effort, and deliver scalable, reusable dashboards and insights. Modernize the operating model, improve data quality/consistency, establish knowledge transfer/documentation, and leverage AI and automation to deliver faster, clearer answers (not generic, oversized reports). Own the S2P Data Mart and define the roadmap to centralize the customer-facing reporting tool/platform to drive adoption and fit-for-purpose reporting.
Essential Responsibilities: Strategy, Operating Model & Leadership
- Define Reporting & Analytics strategy, team goals, operating model, org structure, governance, and day-to-day MIS activities.
- Partner with S2P stakeholders, enterprise leaders, vendors/consultants to gather requirements, prioritize demand, and execute work requiring external support.
- Shift reporting to a product mindset (standard solutions, reusable datasets, self-service) to reduce one-off work and backlog.
- Communicate MIS activity summaries, usage, delivery status, and risks to senior leadership; cascade priorities and messaging to the team.
- Upskill and develop the team; build accountability, strategic thinking, and modern analytics practices.
Reporting, Analytics & Customer Experience
- Redesign reporting to address customer pain points (too large, lacks detail, doesn’t answer the question).
- Drive innovation and future planning using Generative AI, intelligent analytics, and automation.
- Translate business needs into high-level technical designs and actionable roadmaps aligned to process outcomes/controls.
- Deliver reporting for process gaps and improvement; build/maintain critical reporting (e.g., IRS, Category Mgmt, Spend, PO/Invoice, etc.).
Data Platform, Data Mart & Governance
- Own the S2P Data Mart fed by production systems including Coupa, eGRC, Oracle, ServiceNow; onboard Fusion and Beeline in 2026.
- Lead governance/stewardship: manage Data Stewards maintaining catalogs, categorization, business terms/definitions in Collibra.
- Partner with Data Architect/Data Management to define/enforce data quality rules, monitoring, remediation; drive records retention/deletion and ensure definitions, lineage, auditability (incl. semantics integration solutions).
- Establish and maintain ETL/data architecture across sources (e.g., Coupa Core/CRA, Information Security, etc.).
SAS Viya Platform Strategy
- Lead enterprise strategy and maintenance for SAS Viya: stakeholder alignment, vendor/supplier partnership, compute/storage thresholds, upgrades.
- Address SAS Viya adoption challenges; recommend complementary/alternative tools while maintaining governance and cost controls.
Delivery, Technical Oversight & Automation
- Provide technical direction across the analytics stack:
- SAS programs for ETL and SAS Viya dashboards; Oracle DWH extraction using SQL
- Data integrity/repository management; monitor/troubleshoot inventories in SAS
- Build interactive dashboards; manage report inventory and utilization tracking/rationalization
- Serve (directly or via team) as primary technical contact for Coupa Analytics for S2P/P2P metrics reporting and solution design.
- Enable low-code/no-code solutions (e.g., Power Automate, Forms/Canvas apps, lists/apps) to replace manual work and provide backup coverage.
- Support compliance/risk analytics (e.g., CTC) and ad hoc analysis as needed.
- Oversee recurring spend analytics (e.g., monthly/quarterly AIC files) and ensure resiliency via cross-training/backup.
Documentation, Knowledge Transfer & Controls
- Establish standards for documentation and knowledge transfer (definitions, logic, ETL, specs, runbooks, support procedures).
- Implement SDLC/QA controls to improve accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data and reporting.
- Strengthen intake/prioritization and delivery governance aligned to customer outcomes; optimize PM + delivery team collaboration.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science,Mathematics,or any related course
- 10+ years leading analytics/reporting/data management (financial services and/or enterprise shared services preferred; S2P/P2P is a plus).
- Proven transformation leadership (operating model + platform strategy).
- Strong experience with Coupa, Tableau, SAS Viya, and Oracle database. At least 5 years with Coupa and Oracle database and 3 years in SAS Viya and Tableau.
- Expertise in data marts/DWH, ETL architecture, data governance/metadata.
- Demonstrated success improving data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
- Strong stakeholder management across business, technology, risk/compliance, and vendors.
Desired Characteristics:
- Python, Power BI, Power Automate, low-code/no-code app development.
- Generative AI / intelligent automation applied to reporting/analytics (automated insights, narrative reporting, intelligent intake, semantic layer).
- Experience engaging/managing consulting/advisory partners to accelerate transformation and build internal capability.
(WORK TIMINGS: This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
