Organizational Overview: Synchrony's Risk Team provides independent oversight of Synchrony’s risk-taking activities to ensure safety and soundness, meet regulatory and legal requirements, and manage risks to the risk-appetite of the Board. Risk is responsible for independently assessing, quantifying, and overseeing risks & providing effective challenge. Risk serves as Synchrony’s Second Line of Defense.
Overall, Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related overall risk, risk testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars: Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars play a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenges.
Enterprise Risk provides oversight on Synchrony-wide initiatives and projects and manages issues, risk assessment & reporting, risk monitoring activities, policy standards and procedure framework for governance documents.
Role Summary/Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior eGRC Functional QA to join our Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team as individual contributor. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our eGRC platform by leading functional testing efforts in complex GRC domains such as Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Issues Management, Risk Acceptance, and Compliance Assessments.
You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, developers, and automation teams to craft detailed test strategies, execute comprehensive test plans, and drive defect resolution to ensure compliance, accuracy, and usability of workflows and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute functional testing for eGRC modules (RCSA, Issues Management, Risk Acceptance, Compliance Assessments) ensuring comprehensive coverage.
- Develop and maintain detailed test artifacts (test plans, cases, scripts) aligned with business requirements and risk criteria.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate functional and automated testing efforts and ensure timely defect resolution.
- Perform regression, integration, and user acceptance testing to validate system enhancements and maintain integrity.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 4 years of work experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 6 years of work experience.
- 4+ years of QA experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) systems, preferably on eGRC platforms like SAI360, RSA Archer, or MetricStream.
- Strong functional knowledge of core GRC processes (RCSA, Issues Management, Risk Acceptance, Compliance Assessment, Audit Management) and proven ability to write and execute detailed test cases.
- Experience working in Agile environments using sprint-based development, with proficiency in defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Octane).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience with test automation using Selenium, Java, and TestNG, collaborating effectively with automation teams.
- Knowledge of industry regulatory requirements such as SOX, GDPR, or CPA, with prior experience in regulated financial sectors.
- Relevant certifications in Quality Assurance and/or GRC domains (e.g., CISA, CRISC, ISTQB).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 4 years of work experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 6 years of work experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Functional QA role.
Work Timings: 2PM to 11PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
