Role Summary/Purpose:
This corporate development role entails active leadership in M&A strategy development and deal origination, execution, and integration for Synchrony Financial.
Responsibilities for this senior level role include relationship management with investment banks, deal origination, screening and analysis, recommendations to Executive Leadership, leading due diligence teams to execute and close transactions, and assisting in the integration of acquired companies. As a Senior Vice President, you will be a leader of deal teams for acquisition opportunities, with the opportunity to mentor and coach members of the team . You will be part of a nimble, high-impact team, with direct exposure to the executive leadership team in a mission critical role for Synchrony Financial. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a team leader in a newly formed group and have significant involvement in the early development of the corporate development initiative at Synchrony Financial.
Essential Responsibilities:
- As a critical member of the Strategic Investments and Acquisitions team, this role will have direct responsibility for leading the acquisition process including strategy development, origination, execution, and integration.
- Develop strategic rationale and recommendations for acquisition opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with investment bankers, advisors, and financial services executives.
- Originate acquisition opportunities and build and maintain a robust pipeline of deal activity.
- Lead the structuring and analysis of acquisition opportunities. Formulate and present investment theses and present recommendations to Executive Leadership Team (CEO, CFO, Chief Strategy & Bus Dev Officer, etc.).
- Lead all aspects of acquisition transactions including: screening, structuring, due diligence, analysis, financial modeling, negotiation and documentation, and integration.
- Work with Credit, Risk and Finance teams, as well as investment bankers, to develop detailed operating and financial models to support acquisition recommendations, develop valuations including synergy analyses, perform sensitivity analyses and assess investment returns.
- Work with cross functional teams within Synchrony to establish a transparent and efficient integration process including HR, IT, Sourcing, Legal, Compliance, etc.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years relevant experience in corporate development, investment bank, and/or private equity investing in financial services and/or payments or consumer lending; or in lieu of completed degree, HS diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of relevant experience in corporate development, investment bank, and/or private equity investing in financial services and/or payments or consumer lending
- 5+ years’ experience leading cross functional teams in corporate development or M&A capacity
- 2+ years’ experience with financial analysis including modeling, underwriting, due diligence, documentation and negotiations
- 5+ years’ experience independently leading origination, due diligence processes, performing financial analysis, preparing investment memos and developing recommendations for senior management

Grade/Level: 15
The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
